Paediatric First Aid for Working Outdoors – New course date.

We’re extremely pleased to be working with PEYTU again in delivering another Paediatric First Aid for Working Outdoors course. The dates are 13th, 14th and 15th October 2011 and it will be held in St Werburghs, Bristol. Places are available to book from PEYTU for £150.00 per person.

This 2.5 day (18 hour) course is designed around the standard Paediatric First Aid syllabus and therefore covers both the EYFS requirements and outdoor elements required by organisations such as Forest School. The course has been specifically designed and is then delivered by professional ambulance practitioners and fire and rescue staff. The course includes outdoor scenarios where the group is split into first aid teams, allocated an instructor and coached to deal with mock incidents relevant to working with children outside.

We can assure you that this course is one of the best on offer and you will leave feeling confident in delivering first aid to the groups of young people you work with.
Photos and comments are available to view from our last course here.

New outdoors course launched

Our new Paediatric First Aid for Working Outdoors (PFWO) course was commissioned by PEYTU, one of our first and most valued clients, in response to the increased demand for Forest School training which requires an 18hr specifically designed outdoor first aid course. Our Paediatric First Aid Course for Working Outdoors combines both outdoor and paediatric elements and complies fully with the EYFS framework so that only one course is needed to cover all bases.

The pilot course was run over 3rd, 4th & 5th March 2011 and was a fantastic time. Participants were enthusiastic, as were the instructors, and with extended elements during the standard 12hr paediatric syllabus to cover the outdoor theory taught in the first two days, everyone was looking forward to day 3. The briefing for day 3 was to be prepared for anything. The course was going to take place regardless of weather conditions, and with little shelter available at the outdoor site, we were determined to make this as realistic as possible for all concerned.

What’s the point of running an outdoors course in a snug classroom?! The large group were split into smaller groups and taken with our highly qualified and experienced instructors to their various scenarios. These ranged from a casualty falling from a tree to an unresponsive casualty who was not breathing normally. It was great to see how the learners applied the skills built up during the previous 2 days throughout the day and to see confidence grow and ability significantly increase. Photos are available here to view and see the great time had by all.

Feedback has been excellent and must be credited to both the instructors involved and the learners, who participated and committed themselves wholeheartedly to the course.
